Dear Folks,

I have Ubuntu Maverick and OpenSUSE 11.2 disks with me. Any body need, then send me a request. of course you need to bear postal charges. Send me an envelop with 2 blank DVDs and you also need to wait for some time, since I am busy, but I see that disk reach with in a week. Don’ forget to affix sufficient stamps to envelop.

Video Demonstrations in Axum University

Today I gave some video presentations to the students regarding System Analysis and Design. All most all class was present to the program. I must say thanks to Mrs. Cathy , ELQIP Coordinator, in Aksum University, for providing me audio-visual room for presentations.

Video demonstrations helps to students learn subject with required involvement. The theme of the presentation is to explain them about recent developments in Information Systems across the world, and its advatages to business organizations. I gave two demonstrations one is about Cisco’s networking in George Washington University, and the other is about UPS of US.

Axum’s Marium festival

Marium’s festival is one of the grand festivals in Axum. I had visited the Tsion Church on 30, November,2009, during Marium’s festival. I was really enthralled by the crowd and the grandeur of the celebrations. The people of Axum love celebrations and they are traditional and timid while celebrating the festivals. On November, 30, 2009, it was really awesome experience in my life.

The church was full of offers and prayers during the whole day, the crowd inside the church was so calm and decent during the whole day. I observed two Q’s just before the altar or main place inside the church. This is one of the important churches in Ethiopia, having lot of historical background. As far as, I know, the church was built by Haile Selassie the greate, one of the emperors of Ethiopia.

The church is very spacious with four entrances all around the church. The surroundings and vicinity inside and outside of the church is very beautiful.

The Steles of Aksum-Opposite Tsion

The above photo is the vicinity of the Tsion (Marium Church), the objects that are standing are Steles of Aksum. Steles are main attractions of the Aksum town, being one of the important spots for the tourists.

All Indians with their families in Axum

The above photo is about all Indians in Axum town, Tigray, Ethiopia. It is usual to have informal gatherings in Axum. The Axums was one of the great empires of the past and ancient times. The photograph shows all Indians gathered during an informal occation in Remhai Hotels (one of the luxurious hotels in Axum). Some of them in the photo are working as instructors in Aksum University, one of the newly established Universities in Ethiopia.

how to solve initramfs… in ubuntu…

I am suffering from initramfs…. prompt in ubunut (both in jaunty and karmic). Especially during the time of upgrade (if the upgrade is not proper), the system suddenly crash during booting and end up with initramfs prompt.

I could not find right solution to this problem, how to get GUI, what I mean desktop from there ( I mean from initramfs prompt…)

Please some body kindly help me…..

Telugu on Ubuntu karmic koala

ubuntu karmic, the 9.10 version, a wonderful operating system, not only for techs but also for novices, has a awesome features and functionality. Indeed, it supports almost all languages on earth, one of such language is telugu, one can install telugu by few clicks of commands from the terminal:

sudo apt-get install ttf-telugu-fonts language-pack-te

If u want to use telugu with the help of SCIM, it is very simple, just follow as below;

1. install SCIM, by typing the follwing statements;

sudo apt-get install scim-m17n

2. download m17n library files (it is indeed tar.gz file, you need to google around to install this file) from the following link;

www.m17n.org/m17n-lib-download/m17n-contrib-1.1.6.tar

or at least telugu RTS fonts can be downloaded form the terminal, by following the below statements;

wget http://abhiomkar.googlepages.com/te-rts.mim

after that do this, at terminal;

sudo cp te-rts.mim /usr/share/m17n/

Just that’s all…….The installation is over, now, restart the SCIM, from the RUN command (Alt+F2, and them type SCIM, then press OK), you can find a short button at right side of the top panel in desktop. Now go to a place where u want to type telugu, like gedit text editor, and then right click, select ‘SCIM Bridge Input Method‘ in input methods. Then after go to the SCIM icon in right side of the top panel and single click on the icon, then you get list of languages(that which are enabled in SCIM setup), selct Telugu-rts option. That’s all now the excellent telugu will be on your favorable text editor.
